Michael O'Rourke spent his childhood growing up in California and Nevada. In 2003, at the age of 19, he enlisted into the United States Navy. After serving for 5 years at the Naval Submarine Base in Bangor, Washington, Michael left the Navy to pursue his education at Seattle Central Community College. He studied at Seattle Central's illustrious Film and Video Program with Sal Tonacchio, Jill Freidberg, and Laurel Minter.
